In 2009, I remembered wishing I could travel around the Philippines…not all over the country but just to satisfy my “itchy feet”, or be true to the moles on my legs (believed to signify a person who cannot stay put). That year, I got to go to Sagada, then to Cotabato. It’s the third day of 2011 now and I realized I’ve already fulfilled that wish this past year (2010)…and in fact, for the entire year, I’ve gone to Cebu, Iloilo, Cotabato, Cagayan De Oro, Bukidnon, Davao and Palawan (and some regular trips to the North, where my relatives live)…awesome! Thank you Universe! There are still certain places that I wish to visit, maybe this year or next year, like Batanes, Pagudpud, Sorsogon (whale watching), go back to Palawan (this time to visit Coron or El Nido).
For 2011, my foot is itching to walk around Europe. Yes, that is one of my ultimate dreams! I’ve been drawn to the historic richness of that continent, from the centuries old buildings to the cultures that birthed empires, great philosophies, the arts, and of course my two passions: theater and football. I see myself running from Greece to Rome to the Scandinavian countries then to the UK; and of course, the Netherlands where I feel a deep connection to, sparked early on by the dutch name (or word, Janneke, which means girl) I’ve been baptized with. Why did I choose that name when I incarnated in this life? Is it connected to my life purpose? A reminder of something I have to do in my life? And, most importantly…will I get to go? I’ve done my part, followed my intuition and explored the possibilities (and did the necessary steps)…the best thing I can do now is to nurture the dream in my heart, keep my fingers crossed and leave it up to the Universe! I also hope I can have a side trip to visit my sister in the US, as well as a dear friend who offered a great opportunity that I wasn’t ready to take (or so it seemed), in 2009. Anyway, we’ll see how it goes, but I might as well include this wish in my prayers.
Meanwhile, I’ll be reviewing my past travels and will post them here…including pictures, and of course the valuable lessons I’ve learned from each travel experience. Practical and Spiritual lessons. Because every journey has two aspects, inner and outer. Also, some insights to the places I’ve visited and the people I’ve met these past months.
And hopefully…every year I get to add more exciting adventures to this travel journal.
